Dental tips to help you stay well during COVID-19


Remember this is not a holiday – so don’t slip into holiday mode where you forget to brush and floss your teeth.

Now is the time to increase your oral hygiene steps.  The health of your mouth is directly linked to the health of your body

  • Make sure you are brushing 2xs daily.
  • Floss or interproximal brush 1-2 xs daily
  • A chlorhexidine mouthwash or gargle is useful as this has antibacterial properties and some viral protection (COVID-19??????). 

                     Use it once weekly of you feel well.

                     If you have a slight sore throat or wonder if you might be becoming unwell use it 2xs daily for 2-3 days.

                     Don’t use for more than 5 days in a row, as it will stain your teeth (this is removable with a hygiene appointment post lockdown

                    Don’t use if you are allergic to chlorhexidine.

  • If you become unwell – remember to replace your toothbrush when the symptoms subside.
